Unitrans Program of Projects - Federal 5307, ARP, & CARES Act Funding

Posted on Jul 21 2021

On an annual basis, the City of Davis/Unitrans prepares a Program of Projects (POP) that forms the basis for grant applications submitted to FTA for annual transit funding allocated to the City by FTA. In response to the impact of COVID-19 on transit operators throughout the nation, the federal government through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act appropriated $10,308,599 and $830,050 through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to the City of Davis to support transit operations and help backfill local and state revenue losses to prevent significant transit service reductions and impacts.

The proposed program of projects allocates remaining CARES Act, ARP, and FY2020-2021 Federal 5307 funding to support transit service in the City of Davis through FY2023-2024 and provide local budgetary relief. Additional funding is provided to the Yolo County Transportation District (Yolobus) for the provision of local transit service in Davis for FY2021-2022.

FTA regulatory guidance requires the City and Unitrans to make the proposed POP available for public review and comment prior to its approval by the City Council.  The proposed POP is published in the Davis Enterprise as of Friday, July 23 and on the Unitrans web site (unitrans.ucdavis.edu) on July 21, 2020, with information on how to ask questions and comment on the proposed POP.   The review and comment period will remain open through August 5, 2021. To comment, email comments@unitrans.ucdavis.edu, call 530-752-2877, send a letter to 1 Shields Ave, South Hall Room 5, Davis, CA 95616, or attend the public hearing. Click here for the full proposed POP.

A public hearing on the proposed POP will be held via Zoom at the Unitrans Advisory Committee (UAC) meeting on Thursday, August 5 at 4:00 PM. Meeting information will be posted on the UAC page of the City's website at least 72 hours before the meeting If approved, the Committee’s recommendation and all comments received through the public review period, will be forwarded to the Davis City Council for its Tuesday, August 31, 2021 meeting. Meeting details will be provided at least 72 hours in advance through the City's website.
