Ride Free! Spare the Air Day on Thursday, July 13

All customers ride Unitrans fare-free on Thursday, July 13 due to the Spare the Air announcement. Unitrans provides free rides for all customers on the first 15 Spare the Air days of the summer. (3/15)

Service Changes & All Door Boarding Ending Effective Monday, August 7

Effective Monday, August 7, 2023, the following Unitrans service changes go into effect. The changes are focused on improving service reliability and safety on campus during the class passing period. The changes were approved by the Unitrans Advisory Committee on April 27, 2023. Service frequencies will be restored to pre-pandemic levels as driver staffing improves. All Door Boarding Ending: Starting August 7, on single deck buses, please board through the front door only. On double decker buses, customers may continue to board through the rear door when a conductor is present. Fares and passes are required and will be checked for all customers. Please have your pass or fare ready before the bus arrives. Your passes and fares pay for Unitrans service. Graduate students and staff do not currently pay for Unitrans access and must pay the fare or purchase a pass. For accepted passes and fares, click here!

 

A Line to/from Memorial Union Bus Terminal: The A line will operate to/from the Memorial Union Terminal only. The schedule is significantly revised. Click here for schedule.

 

Z Line to/from Silo Bus Terminal: The Z line will operate to/from the Silo Bus Terminal only. The schedule is significantly revised. Click here for schedule.

 

12:00 PM Terminal Departures (ALL Lines): All 12:00 PM terminal departures will now depart at 12:10 PM. This change will reduce traffic in the campus core during the class passing period.

 

Schedule Adjustments: The E, G, L, U, V, V Express, and V Limited schedules were adjusted by 1-3 minutes. See individual schedules for updates.

 

8:00 AM Weekend P & Q Line Trips: On weekends, the P & Q lines will operate full trips starting from the Memorial Union Terminal at 8:00 AM.

 

Service Frequency Improvements: Unitrans will continue increasing frequencies from today’s levels as staffng improves. Unitrans will prioritize frequency improvements based on two factors: 1) Restoring 30 minute service to all routes and 2) Increasing frequencies based on crowding. Approved increases:

  • A Line: Up to every 30 minutes
  • G Line: Up to every 15 minutes
  • J Line: Up to every 15 minutes
  • V-EX & V-LT Lines: Up to every 15 minutes each
  • W Line: Up to every 20 minutes
  • Z Line: Up to every 30 minutes

Picnic Day Service - Saturday, April 15

On Picnic Day, Saturday. April 15, Unitrans will operate expanded weekend service with some route changes. All regular fares apply, and all Unitrans passes are accepted. Schedules are available online by selecting your route and selecting "Picnic Day Only 4/15" for the "Term". Frequency By Line

  • 2x per hour: K, M, O, P, Q
  • 4x per hour: V & G

 

Detours/Route Changes

  • M Line will be detoured from 8:00am until approximately 1:00pm due to road closures in downtown. Only 5th/D, 5th/G, 5th/I, Cowell/Valdora Inbound, Cowell/Drew Inbound, Cowell/Research Park Inbound, Research Park/Cowell, and Cowell/Halsey bus stops will be served during detour.
  • O Line operates via Fifth Street all day due to road closures in downtown. No direct service on B Street, Second Street, to Amtrak, or on Russell/A Street outbound. Use 5th/D, 5th/G, and 5th/I bus stops for downtown.
  • V Line operates to/from the Silo Terminal all day.

Service Change Proposals for 2023-2024 Academic Year

*Committee approved the proposed service changes at their meeting on April 27, 2023. Changes will be implemeted on August 7, 2023.

Unitrans service change proposals for the 2023-2024 academic year focus on improving service reliability to get customers to their destinations in a more timely manner and reduce traffic in and around UC Davis during passing periods. Unitrans will continue to restore service frequencies to pre-pandemic levels as a top priority as driver staffng improves. There are no proposed fare or pass price changes. Proposed A & Z Line Terminal Changes: Unitrans proposes rerouting the A line to the Memorial Union Bus Terminal and the Z line at the Silo Bus Terminal to improve service reliability and timeliness. When driver staffng improves, both lines will operate between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM on weekdays. The minimum level of service would be hourly A line service to the Memorial Union Terminal from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM and hourly Z line service to the Silo Terminal from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Minor O & Z Line Route Change: In addition to the above terminal changes, Unitrans proposes rerouting the O & Z lines to operate on Cantrill Drive to Fifth Street instead of Pena Drive. The proposal would provide more convenient service to high density residential housing on Cantrill Drive including Eleanor Roosevelt Circle and The U Apartments. Click here for map. Schedule Adjustments: The C, D, J, V-Express, V-Limited, and W schedules may be adjusted 5-10 minutes earlier during the academic year to improve service reliability to get customers to their destinations in a more timely manner and reduce traffc in and around UC Davis during passing periods. A & Z line frequencies may be adjusted based on Yolobus Route 42 YoloGo changes. NO ADJUSTMENTS PLANNED AT THIS TIME

The meeting will be held at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street, Davis, CA 95616. Details on the public hearing will be posted at this link within 72 hours of the meeting. Potential C - D - J - V Line Delays

Expect potential service delays on the C, D, J, and V lines tonight (3/14) through 10pm due to a scheduled event on campus.  Some buses may be detoured at various times without notice depending on conditions.  Special phone support is available until 8pm at (530) 752-2877 if you have any questions or need assistance.

Winter Finals and Spring Break Service - March 20-31

Unitrans service will be modified for winter finals and spring break! See below for details.

 

Monday, March 20 thru Friday, March 24 - Winter Quarter service continues with the following modifications...

Night Service will operate on Friday, March 24

Special late night trips added for A (11:10 PM), C (10:40 PM), D (11:10 PM), J (11:10 PM), K (8:35 PM & 9:35 PM), L (11:10 PM), P (11:10 PM), Q (11:10 PM), V (10:40 PM & 11:10 PM), and W (11:10 PM)

All service fare-free during finals week!

 

Monday, March 27 thru Thursday, March 30 - Break Service will operate. All service will be to/from the MU Terminal. Service will only operate on the B, E, F, G, K, L-MU, M, O, P, Q, and U lines.

 

Friday, March 31 - Weekend service will operate in observance of Cesar Chavez Day.

A & Z Line Schedule Improvements Starting Monday, April 3!

Just in time for spring quarter, the A & Z line schedules are expanding! Starting Monday, April 3, A line service will again operate every 30 minutes during the academic year! With this change, the Z line will change from operating at the "bottom of the hour" to the "top of the hour" providing customers with both the A and Z lines to get to class on-time for classes starting on the hour. The Z line will also offer expanded evening hours with trips at 6:10 PM, 7:10 PM, and 8:10 PM. Remember, Yolobus also operates 30-60 minute service on Fifth Street too!
