Short Range Transit Plan Update - We Want Your Feedback!

Tell Us Your Thoughts on Proposed Improvements

Every ten years, the City of Davis in coordination with Unitrans undergoes a Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) which looks at Unitrans bus service and provides proposals and recommendations on service improvements. The SRTP process began in 2024 with extensive outreach to Unitrans passengers in Fall 2024 on their thoughts and opinions on current service and future service. Based on ridership trends, growth patterns, and your feedback, the planning process has route and service hour proposals avaialble for review and feedback. Once the SRTP is complete, Unitrans (UC Davis) and the City of Davis may use the findings and recommendations for future bus routes, service modifications, schedule changes, fleet purchases, fares, transfer locations, operating expenses, revenue projections, and other initiatives. For the full summary of changes, visit the Transit Plan website! To review the proposals and give feedback, click on the survey link!

Proposed Route Changes

  • East & South Davis: Routes in East and South Davis currently experience more reliability issues than other Unitrans routes due to traffic congestion and passenger demand. Proposed changes include routing the P and Q lines to operate north of Interstate 80 on 2nd and 5th Streets, discontinuing the A line, and introducing a new South Davis/Downtown/UC Davis campus bus line. The proposed lines are designed to improve overall transit reliability and provide more timely and direct service to riders.  Visit the survey link for graphics and more information!
  • Central Davis: Proposed changes in Central Davis focus on reducing travel times, improving connectivity, and eliminating route duplication, especially for routes serving the Memorial Union Bus Terminal.  The proposal includes routing the G line from Anderson Road and Alvarado Avenue to Sycamore Lane, routing the F line onto Catalina Drive and providing two-way service 14th Street and F Street, introducing a new line to better serve Alvarado Avenue, and discontinuing the B Line. Proposed Service Hour Changes

  • Expanded Friday and Weekend Service: Based on community feedback, several routes including the A, G, K, M, P, Q, and U lines are proposed to maintain their Monday to Thursday evening schedules on Fridays, meaning the last departure from UC Davis would be from 90 minutes to 2½ hours later on Fridays, depending on the route. The last departure from UC Davis on Saturday and Sunday would be extended by two hours at 8:10 PM on the G, K, M, O, P, Q, and U lines. These routes would continue to operate every 60 minutes .
